Southeast Asia Packing List

Hey everyone! If you’re reading this when it’s first publicized, you’re seeing it while Ian and I are on our flight to Bangkok – woohoo!

We decided to go with backpacks instead of checked luggage this time, after AirCanada lost our luggage on our last trip to Portugal. However, seeing as we’ll be away for over a month this time around, packing everything I needed into a 40L travel bag was quite a challenge. Let me tell you what I brought, to ease your time should it come around.

Southeast Asia – One Month Packing List

Clothing

1for1 Pizza

Hey guys! I’m here today to talk to you about some of my favourite Ottawa comfort food.

One of the biggest hurdles to transitioning to a vegan diet is the shift in the kinds of dishes you can eat – sometimes, some of your favourite comfort foods disappear from most menus. Chicken fingers? Nope. Soup? Usually not. Pizza? Definitely not – well, most of the time, unless you want to eat it without cheese. But who does, really?

Charity Pot

Hey everyone! Just your favourite vegan here speaking some awesome vegan knowledge. Are you gearing up for St. Patty’s?

Today I’ll tell you all about one of my favourite Lush products, charity pot. There are so many things about this hand cream that make it great – it smells lovely (and neutral, for those of you who don’t particularly like scented products), but it makes your skin amazingly soft. You hardly even need to use any – it’s a treat.

Taking Toronto

Hey everyone! How’s the week been?

For this post I thought I’d finally get around to writing about our trip to Toronto last month.  My band (The Monotymes) recently was asked to play a festival in Toronto at Nocturne Bar. Between driving there, eating, and leaving early for classes and work tomorrow, we didn’t have all that much time to explore the city – but that didn’t stop us from having a great time!

Tofu Scramble

Hey all! How’s everyone doing?

Today,  I want to share one of my very favourite recipes with you – my tofu scramble. Full disclosure, eggs have been one of the hardest animal products for me to give up; I grew up eating them most days, I have fond memories of my grandmother making them for me everyday when I was very young, and that habit followed me into my university life. But when I found out the atrocities that go on in egg farms, I decided I had to stop. It’s been very difficult, and at times my motivation wavers, but finding delicious alternatives is what keeps me dedicated. Now, I didn’t invent this recipe from the ground up – it’s more like a mash up of many others I’ve encountered. This was one of the very first recipes I tried as a vegan alternative, and while it’s not quite the same as a sunny side up eggs, it pretty much satisfies my craving for scrambled eggs or egg sandwiches.

Thundersnow Bath bomb

Hey everyone! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Today I’m going to let you about …. drum roll… yet another amazing Lush product! You’re shocked, I know. I never even saw this one coming.

Anyway. You all know I love bath bombs – and what better way to relax during exam season than with an amazing smelling bath bomb? This is a bath bomb I got around Christmas time, and I’m fairly sure it was part of their Christmas season products. It’s called Thundersnow!

Pure Kitchen

Hey everyone! Time for another vegan Wednesday! *imagine theme music here*

Not long ago, I had a craving (for weeks) to visit one of my favourite spots in Ottawa – Pure Kitchen. I think maybe I’ve written about Pure Kitchen before, but I’ll tell you about it anyway. Pure Kitchen is a mostly vegan / vegetarian option available restaurant on Elgin St. It was one of the very first vegan spots I tried here and I fell in love with it immediately. Their food is always delicious, and they have a constantly changing menu so there are always new things to try.

Montreal

Hey everyone! How’s it going ?

Last time I talked to you guys about the first part of our Montreal trip – the bouldering. This time I’ll talk to you about everything we did! I’ll just start by saying how excited we were for this trip – the news predicted -40 weather, aaaand we still went. It was cold. So, so cold.
